Recently renovated, it is a comfortable refuge two hundred metres from the beach, from the boat landing and from the start of the Sentiero Azzurro to Vernazza. A few steps away you will find a mini market, a laundry, a pharmacy, bars and traditional restaurants. The station is eight minutes on foot and the Loreto car park five: a convenient base for any traveller.

The area

Monterosso is the right place to set out from

The sea here is the clearest of the Cinque Terre, and this is the only village on the coast with a real sandy beach: water that stays transparent even at the height of summer, where the day begins and ends with a swim. From the old town the Sentiero Azzurro takes you on foot to the other villages, the walk people come all this way for, and when your legs have had enough the train reaches them in minutes, up to four departures an hour. And by boat you follow the protected marine area for the finest view of all: the villages seen from the water.
